This weekend could be a wicked one for drivers on the highways with snowfall and high winds moving through the province.

Humboldt and area has had a "fairly mild winter so far" said Meteorologist Terri Lang with Environment Canada.

This coming weekend could change all of that.

Snowfall, freezing rain, rain, and high winds are all possible Saturday and Sunday.

"Looks like through the day on Saturday overnight through Sunday tapering off Sunday during the day but we are going to see some pretty significant winds as well lots of blowing snow up to 10 cm of snow falling for the Humboldt area."

Driving conditions will vary in the area but Sunday looks to be the worse.

"Check the highway hotline before heading out. With this type of system when we have snow falling, potential freezing rain, rain falling onto cold surfaces, and freezing after that really slick roads that is lots to contend with."

There will be more cold days ahead as well for the area.
