Residents in Humboldt and surrounding area are seeing some hazy skies currently, meteorologist John Paul Cragg explains.

"What we are seeing is smoke from the B.C. wildfires. They are making their way all the way across the prairies to us. We're seeing smoke across a wide section of Saskatchewan today."

He tells us how long the hazy skies are expected to last in our region.

"We should see a little bit of clearing later this evening and in the overnight period, and then there's the potential for another area of smoke to move into the Humboldt area later in the day Friday."

Cragg tells us that the smoke should not reduce air quality.

"If you do have respiratory illness, then it's important to take precautions when the smoke is in the air, but otherwise it doesn't look like enough of the smoke is coming down to reduce air quality."
