Almost every day from December to March, you are bound to hear about winter's evil relative, the windchill.

Days of -20's can easily seem like they are in the -40's with even the slightest breeze.

Environment Canada's Dan Kulack says that the windchill can't be registered as a physical number.

"It's actually designed to simulate what it would feel like, walking outside at a much colder temperature and how that would feel under those conditions."

He says there is no way to measure the windchill with an instrument, as it is a calculation based on the temperature and the wind.

Kulack says given the method of the windchill, it also has no effect on your vehicle or other outdoor items.

"Cars and objects like that can only get as cold as the air temperature. Even if the wind is howling and it is bitterly cold."

A warming trend is moving into the Humboldt area on Tuesday, bringing near-zero temperatures, although as the wind howls once again, it may not necessarily feel that way.
