A local family dealing with a child with Cystic Fibrosis is holding a fundraising event Sunday to give back to the foundation that helps so many.

In fact, one in 25 Canadians carries a CF gene.

Lana Woulfe, whose 14 year-old son suffers from the disease talks about their event at the Marean Lake Golf Course.

"It involves a pancake breakfast to start at 8 o'clock and then as the day goes by we have some raffle prizes and some silent action items and then at 11:30 we have a live auction."

Woulfe describes some of the everyday steps Hunter has to take to stay as healthy as possible.

"He has to do physio twice a day, he has to take a lot of meds to keep him as healthy as he is. A lot of it is his challenge to be able keep up with that stuff and still enjoy life on top of that."

They have been giving to the CF foundation ever since Hunter was diagnosed with the disease at nine months old.

She says over the years prognosis has improved but they want to see it continue to be more manageable.

"Years ago someone with CF, lots would pass at the age of five. Now I believe the age is probably 35 and beyond so every bit of money we can raise to give back to CF hopefully will bring a cure or at least better management of the disease."

If you can't make it to the event Sunday but would still like to give to the cause, contact Woulfe at 306-278-2651 or email her at lanawoulfe@sasktel.net
