Hot conditions in the final week of August have led to records being broken around the province.

Environment Canada says that seven communities in Saskatchewan had new daytime highs posted on Monday.

One of those communities is Wynyard, who saw the thermometer reach up to 30 degrees throughout the day.

Meteorologist Jason Knight says that heat records for this time of year aren't overly unusual.

With warm air entering the province and sticking around for a few days, there could potentially be more records broken.

Parts of eastern Saskatchewan are also seeing elevated pollution levels due to forest fire smoke from the northern part of the province.
