It was busy, but a successful 2017 for Humboldt & District Community Services.

That, according to Executive Director Juanine Korte, who says they saw more people involved in their organization.

"All of our programs had an increase in numbers. We were able to develop some new programs and offer some additional services."

One of those programs that have plenty of involvement runs throughout the summer, according to Korte.

"Our annual summer program is always a top highlight of the year. We celebrated our 17th year this summer and provided over 20 children, youth and their families with support."

Korte says that they had around 2,500 hours of respite to families in just eight weeks.

As they move forward, Korte says that there are some things they will be looking to do in 2018, including adding another employee.

"An outreach worker in place so we can meet some of the employment needs for more rural job seekers."

She added that they are looking to coordinate the community work crew, and are looking forward to continuing their partnership with Autism Services.

Among the early work this year includes scanning over their current programming to see how it aligns with the community.

"We'll be doing a priority review, so we are sending out surveys to our user groups, employers, and families in the community about our programs and services."

Korte says that they have their annual general meeting upcoming on February 12.
