The Humboldt District Hospital Foundation is beaming over a strong 2017.

Thanks to some unexpected donations, and some large, expected donations, the HDHF was able to continue their mandate of providing equipment to fit the needs of the hospital.

"We achieved our goals and met some future goals earlier than forecasted," says Executive Director Lorrie Bunko.

Bunko says that among those yearly highlights included the PotashCorp Community Matching Challenge, which took place during April's radiothon.

In addition to the challenge, Bunko notes that overall, it is always an enjoyable week.

"The radiothon is one of our favourite events of the year. It allows us to provide first-hand information about our health care to the Humboldt district."

Other highlights from the year according to Bunko were the partnership with the Jim Pattison Children's Foundation, and a large donation from the Berlinic family that supported a new ultrasound.

Going forward, not much will change for how the foundation raises their dollars, according to Bunko.

"That is the same line we are going to go with, our four signature events. We try to stay on that path just because there are so many community events throughout the district."

In addition to the radiothon, other events include a golf tournament, a walk, and Christmas Angels, which are received in your mailbox each December.

Bunko added that outside of their four key fundraisers, they are always looking at other options to help bring in money to continue chipping away at their constant need for equipment at the hospital.
