It's that time of year where we look back at 2018 for local Humboldt businesses and organizations to highlight what was accomplished as well as what's to come in 2019.

One of the biggest and most important things that the Humboldt & District Kinnettes do happens at the end of the year with their Christmas Cheer hampers for families in need during the holidays. This year they were able to provide holiday hampers for 54 families in Humboldt and the surrounding area.

"We had a huge donation thanks to the Humboldt Broncos Jersey Auction. That enabled us to reassure that we can have Christmas Cheer in the future. A lot of the Christmas Cheer is based on donation and grants, so having that money come in really put up a safety net for us that we can continue this program," said Kelly Solderholm with the Humboldt & District Kinnettes.

As for 2019, one of the Kinettes main focus is to get out into the community and engage with the citizens that have been supportive of them.

"We want to get out in the community to welcome new members. Our group is small and we always want to invite people. We understand it's hard as a person to reach out and take a risk and join something, but it's such a gamechanger for anyone who joins and really wants to give back to their community. Our community is always supporting us and we want to give thanks to them too."

An event is on the horizon for the group set for February in 2019.

"Through all of our fundraising and volunteering work we accumulate money and now we want to bring it back into the community. We choose businesses to donate to that are in need. That's really what the Kinettes is in a nutshell, giving and receiving in a full circle to help the community."

That event is set to take place on February 21st at the Bella Vista.
