John Harry Kraus
May 31, 1941 – April 27, 2024

It is with profound sadness that the family of John Kraus announces his death on April 27, 2024.He was 82 years od age. John was born in Victoria, BC on May 31, 1941, to Steve and Theresa (née Mullner) Kraus. The family moved to the Muenster, SK, area when he was four years old and at the age of seven, they settled at the family homestead. This became John’s home for the next 74 years. John met the love of his life, Martha Rolfes, in 1964 at the St. Gregor Silver Dome. They were married on Feb 27th, 1965, and were blessed with three children: Allan, Darren, and Janice. John worked all his life on the family farm. In the early years, he raised livestock and also worked for and ran a mobile feed mill business. John was always involved with community and served as an RM Councillor for 20 years. He was also a member of The Leroy Elks and served on many other community boards over the years. John had such a love of all things outdoors; he fished, trapped, and hunted. He also waterskied until he was 75, and he and Martha went on yearly downhill ski trips until he was 77. John also loved his garden, especially his cantaloupe and corn crop, but his pride and joy was that hedge he spent hours perfecting. His love of dance and music were always apparent and since living at Caleb the couple had taken over the dance floor. Johnny and Martha travelled to many places including: Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and South Africa, which he always said was his favorite destination. John liked to do many things but his love for his wife, kids and grandkids was always the most important to him. He was so proud of all of them. John and Martha were always there when anyone needed and went to all activities possible - travelling to hockey, curling, recitals, and graduations. He was a husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend like no other. He has left us with a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love. John will be remembered forever by: his wife of 59 years, Martha Kraus (née Rolfes) and their children and families: son Allan (Leanne) Kraus of Saskatoon, SK, and their children, Jessie and Jaden; son Darren Kraus (Sasha Palmer) of Winnipeg, MB, and his children, Joseph and Katie; daughter Janice (Trent) Stoodley of King’s Point, NFLD, and their son, Canyon; siblings: Theresa (Doug) Lougran, Leonard (Ros) Kraus, and Allan (Debbie) Maloney; in-laws; nieces and nephews; and many special friends. He was predeceased by: granddaughter Alexandra Kraus; daughter-in-law Shelley Kraus; parents Steve and Theresa (née Mullner) Kraus; brother Steve Kraus; sister Marie Maloney; and in-laws from both the Kraus and Rolfes families.
