Anton John Nienaber
September 16, 1934 – May 2, 2022

Anton “Tony” was born September 16, 1934, to Joseph and Johanna (née Niekamp) Nienaber. He was the fourth oldest of nine siblings and grew up on the family farm near Annaheim, Saskatchewan. After attending school at Arras, Tony met his sweetheart Eileen, and they were married on April 23, 1960. Together they raised their eight children on the dairy farm they built near Annaheim. Tony’s faith was an important part of his whole life. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for 60+ years and could be seen assisting the parish priests during masses on a regular basis. Tony lived life to its fullest. He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with brothers Francis and Herman and later with his children and grandkids. Tony was quite creative. He built beautiful furniture in his workshop for family and bird feeders for many neighbors. Tony would help Eileen create a beautiful yard wherever they lived by planting trees and building garden structures. Tony’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Nothing made Tony happier than sitting outside with his beautiful wife listening to the birds, teasing his grandkids, and listening to his children having conversations around him. Tony will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife EILEEN, their eight children and their families: HARVEY (Tia) of Humboldt, SK, and family, Evan and Jordan; DAVID (Lana) of Naicam, SK, and family, Michael (Ashley) and Daughter Vada, Bradley, Jared (Kendell), and Justin; JOANN (David) Doepker of Humboldt, SK, and family, Jill, Sarah, and Roxana; JUDY (Ray) Wiest of Humboldt, SK, and family, Hannah and Danny; JANET (Randy) Stoudt of Regina, SK, and family, Becca; KENNY (Shannon †) of Humboldt, SK, and family, Blake (Kelsey), Brendan, and Logan; BOBBY (Barb) of Wynyard, SK, and family, Aleks and Lauryn; and SANDRA (Justin) Kohlman of Saskatoon, SK, and family, Quin and Hayden. Tony was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Johanna, daughter-in-law Shannon, siblings: Anna, Herman, Francis, and Herman H., and by his in-laws from both Tony and Eileen's family. The Funeral Mass was offered for Tony on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in Humboldt, SK, celebrated by Fr. Colin Roy.
