The Humboldt Broncos fell to the Flin Flon Bombers as they wrapped up a two-game homestand on Thursday, October 24th.

The Broncos started off strong in the first period, pushing the play inside the Bombers zone, and capped off the period with a goal from Cody Hough to take a 1-0 lead into the second period. In the second period, however, the high flying offence of the Bombers took control.

Three straight goals in the second by Cole Rafuse, Easton Haygarth, and Caleb Franklin dug the Broncos into a 3-1 hole.

The Bombers added a fourth goal in the third period courtesy of Donovan Houle-Villeneuve, his league-leading 16th of the year to give Flin Flon a 4-1 lead.

One of the lone bright spots for Humboldt in the game may have been an SJHL highlight of the year. 16-year-old Karter McNarland received a pass at the blue line and was all alone on a breakaway. He followed that by putting the puck between his legs and going bar down over the blocker of Bomber goalie Matt Sankner to get the Broncos within two. The unbelievable goal by McNarland was unfortunately as close as the Broncos would get. Alec Malo added an empty-net goal, and Flin Flon skated away with a 5-2 victory.

With the win, Flin Flon evened up the season series at two games apiece, while the Broncos have now alternated wins and losses in their last eight games.

Humboldt will start a four-game road trip and look to get back in the win column on Saturday, October 26th in Melville against the Millionaires.
