It was a high scoring and raucous affair in Weyburn, but the Humboldt Broncos found themselves back in the win column after the final horn. The Broncos took an 8-6 victory back home on Tuesday night.

Spencer Bell got things underway for the Broncos with his first of three on the night. The power play goal was assisted by Matthew Van Blaricom. Saxen Robertson and Dylan Nazareth set up Travis Bryson for his ninth of the season just over a minute later. Weyburn would tie it up in the first, but the Broncos headed into the first intermission with the lead courtesy of Van Blaricom.

Jeter Korte fed the puck to Maddox Amaral to start the Broncos off in the second. Weyburn’s Jerome Maharaj beat Broncos’ goalie Aiden Fischer to draw within one before Humboldt took advantage of a pair of power plays thanks to Spencer Bell and Cage Newans, along with Daylan Weigel’s assists on both. Broncos’ Bryson scored his second of the night to round out the second period.

Weyburn’s Cade Meiklejohn brought the Red Wings back to life with a pair of early third period goals followed by another marker off the stick of Jaxson Ruthven. The end of the game was marked by flying fists after Spencer Bell notched the hat trick on an empty net. The spirited affair ended in the 8-6 Bronco victory.

That sets the Broncos up for a home and home this weekend against the Melfort Mustangs. Puck drop goes at 7:30 in the Northern Lights Palace on Friday with the game call on 107.5 Bolt FM. Then it's time to pack the EPA for the return visit on Saturday night at 7:00 pm.
