It seems like every year Christmas decorations come out earlier and earlier. It brings up the question, should stores be putting Christmas decorations on the shelves when Remembrance Day has not yet passed.

Now I understand that Christmas is a money maker and stores rely on that income, but I think it is also important to remember that we are able to celebrate holidays like Christmas because those who've served and still serve have made commitments and sacrifices for our freedom.

Remembrace Day is one of the most important days of the year and I think it is best observed when people aren't thinking about material possesions, but rather they focus on all the things they do have and the committment and sacrifice of the brave men and women who stand and have stood on guard for us.

This November lets wait to string up the lights, hold off on putting Santa up, but rather wear a poppy and thank our veterans for their service.
