Around 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning Saskatoon Police issued an advisory that there was an accident which occurred in the 4200 block of Taylor Street East in Saskatoon’s Lakeview neighbourhood. The call came in around 6:00 a.m. of a single vehicle collision.

A 16-year-old-male was pronounced dead at the scene while two others in the vehicle, both 15-year-old-males, were taken to hospital one with minor injuries and the other with serious injuries.

Saskatoon Police Service says the initial investigation indicates that the car had been travelling east on Taylor Street at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control.  The vehicle hit a pole and flipped.  At this time, impairment is not believed to have been a factor.

Traffic restrictions were in effect in both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Taylor Street but were lifted by 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.  The Saskatoon Police Service Collision Analyst Unit is continuing its investigation.
