The Diva for a Day Golf Tournament continues to make a long-term impact on Humboldt Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

This year's fundraiser recently took place at the Humboldt Golf Club, with over 125 golfers hitting the links in support.

Program Support/Development Coordinator Tammy Reudig said this year’s event was another success.

“The theme this year was the circus comes to town and the ladies did not disappoint, they come out fully decked out, and incredible costumes, they deck out their carts, it’s a fun time.”

Along with a festive environment, the tournament generated around $18,000, which will remain in the community aiding Humboldt Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

A popular feature of the Divas for a Day golf tournament is auctioning the caddies.

“It’s always a big hit,” said Ruedig, noting six caddies were auctioned off.

“Some new guys, who have never done it before, so that was fun to have some new people out and I think they have a lot of fun, they don’t necessarily do typical caddie jobs, but I think the ladies entertain them on the golf course.”

With the amount of work that goes into the golf tournament and the summer holidays fast approaching, the next few months are quiet for the organization.

When the school year begins in the fall, Humboldt Big Brothers and Big Sisters will launch their campaign to help find mentors for the area, says Ruedig.

“That’s our main goal, to get as many mentors involved with our organization as possible, so that we can help with as many kids as we can.”

She encourages potential mentors to ponder about helping them out.

“Take some time to think about whether you could give some time to us and the kids and become a mentor, whether it’s a community match or an in-school match.”

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, you can view the Humboldt Big Brothers and Big Sisters social media channels along with visiting their website, which will have volunteer forms.
