Doreen Stephan
May 21, 1929 – October 5, 2022

Doreen Helen Stephan (nee Freeman), 93 years, of Lanigan, SK passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Humboldt District Hospital. Doreen was born on May 21, 1929 at Watrous to Howard and Belle (nee Peterson) Freeman of Renown. She completed high school and started work at the Royal Bank in Lanigan for three years prior to her marriage. On November 26, 1948, she married Lawrence Stephan. They operated a farm in the Lanigan area and raised a family of four. When their children were young, she was involved in the Lanigan Figure Skating Club as well as their many other activities. She sewed many skating dresses and Halloween costumes, not only for her own children but for many others as well. Throughout her life, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and active with the Lutheran Ladies. From 1971 – 1994, Doreen was a clerk at Lanigan Drugs, where she enjoyed seeing friends and neighbours daily. Doreen liked to watch curling, Christmas movies and game shows on TV. She kept her mind sharp with countless crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Doreen’s family members were fortunate to be the recipients of her many beautiful crocheted afghans. Each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren have at least one if not five! She and Lawrence spent many summers camping and fishing around Saskatchewan and enjoyed several bus trips to the United States, including one to Nashville. They loved playing cards with family and friends and listening to country music. Above all, Doreen’s family were her pride and joy. She loved spending time with them, whether it was cheering from the sidelines or special family occasions. She loved when they were together. In 1991, Doreen and Lawrence moved from the farm to Lanigan and in 2013, they moved to the Carlton Condo. Doreen will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her four children; nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren: GARRY (Renee) Stephan of Regina and family LeaAnne (Pierre) and children Toveah and Taiven, and Daniel; CONNIE (Mylles) Wildeman of Esk and family Todd (Kim) and children Jace, Reese and Raea, and Chris (Julie) and children Avery and Kya; BRENDA Brenner of Lanigan and family Mark (Melissa) and children Noah and Sam, and Ryan and daughter Reanne; and PEGGY Lynch of Jansen and family Tyler (Amy) and children Hayden and Sophie, Dustin (Brenna) and children Blakely and Kaycee, and Stephanie (Terran) and daughter Ayda.
