Humboldt Collegiate is hosting another unique fundraiser in support of one of its own.

HCI is hosting a Bingo and Badminton Tournament to raise funds and help offset the costs in Carleen Theissing’s battle against cancer. The event goes on April 22-23 at the Collegiate.

The badminton tournament has singles and doubles pools, which can be co-ed.

“There will be badminton Friday evening and throughout Saturday,” says Kerri Archibald, teacher at HCI. “The Canteen will also be open Friday and Saturday.”

The bingo takes place in the commons area at the entrance. Bingo starts at 10:00 am sharp and goes until about 1:30 pm on Saturday. There will be approximately 20 games with the grand prize game happening toward the end of the bingo event.

“We’ve brought in some teachers and former staff members to help out with the bingo calling. Our staff has already done a great job signing up for shifts and donating prizes.”

Area residents and businesses are welcome to join in and support the cause with donations of time, money or prizes, says Archibald. Donations of food for the canteen are also welcome.

Registrations for the badminton tournament can be made with Ashley Lepitzki, HCI teacher, at (306) 233-8005. For questions or donations for the bingo, get in touch with Kerri Archibald at (306) 230-1935.

Come on out to HCI on April 21-22 for a great time, and to support a great cause.
