One of Humboldt's most renowned golfers has made their mark at the University of Mobile.

On July 7, the University of Mobile (UM) announced it's all-decade team of ten with Micheal Herperger of Humboldt making the roster.

"It feels good but at the same time I just want to get better and it's something that makes me want to get better," said Herperger.

After taking one year of Accounting at the University of Saskatchewan, Herperger looked to continue his education and play the game of golf south of the border. During the 28-year old's time at UM, he won the Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete and CoSIDA Academic All-District awards.

"Throughout my program there I focused on my studies and that's what those awards are based on. Being at the top in academics and playing good golf," stated Herperger.

Two years ago, Herperger won the Saskatchewan Mid-Amateur Tournament. From there he moved on to Nationals and finished 11th overall. Right now, Herperger is focused on becoming a Charter Professional Accountant before working on his game.

"There is still that glimmer of hope through provincials, to nationals, and then a chance to get to the PGA. It's a far off dream, but I love the game."

With that dream in mind, Herperger hopes golf will take him on many other journies throughout his lifetime.
