Although in a smaller and socially distant fashion, the 3rd Annual Conexus Credit Union Humboldt Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament followed through smoothly over the weekend.

The event was held on Saturday, August 8th, and welcomed in roughly 150 golfers to the Humboldt Golf Course.

An original plan for a two-day golf event featuring the SJHL Hall of Fame Banquet and a performance by Saskatchewan Country Icons, the Hunter Brothers was scheduled for the third installment of the memorial tournament. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous changes had to be made, while the major attractions had to be postponed. These changes didn't take away from the main goal at the heart of the tournament, getting together to remember the 29 Humboldt Broncos and their families who were affected by the April 6th, 2018 bus crash.

Normally, the tournament would have welcomed in many of these families and provided an opportunity to reconnect, share stories, and remember their loved ones. Travel restrictions and countless other COVID-19 safety concerns made it difficult for a lot to attend, however, a few did make the trip, including the families of Xavier Labelle, Evan Thomas, and Logan Boulet.

Proceeds from the event go to the Humboldt Broncos Legacy Awards Program. Since it's inaugural year, the program has given back to the community by recognizing and celebrating individuals and nonprofits through numerous scholarships and legacy awards. Currently, the total raised from this year's event has yet to be announced.

In the end, the foursome of Stephen Beauchamp, Triece Keewatin, Arron McKay, and Mathew Paquette took home first place with a best-ball score of -14.

The tournament plans on coming back in full force for the fourth annual installment in August 2021, with the SJHL Hall of Fame Banquet and the Hunter Brothers both slated to return.
