Muenster is already shining brightly, and it’s ready to show off again with its third annual Muenster Twinkle Tour on Sunday, December 18. While people are welcome to drive throughout the village to see the sights, a pleasant winter evening invites walkers to enjoy the sites at a slower pace. It comes complete with complimentary hot chocolate, outdoor skating, and a lovely fire pit. It all gets under way with a noisy fanfare to welcome Santa.

“It starts around 6:30 pm,” says village administrator Jan Sylvestre. “You will probably hear the Muenster Fire Department out and about with their fire sirens blaring to mark the start. You can feel free to grab your family, dress up warm, and head out on a self-guided tour.”

Everyone has pulled out all the stops for decoration this year, says Sylvestre, with some lights reaching dizzying heights.

Once again, the Muenster Hotel is home base. “Light-seers” can pick up a village map at the hotel off the start, along with a voting ballot to choose your top choice of displays. Before or after your tour, you can pick up a hot chocolate. On the route, visitors will find a warm fire around which to gather. For those inclined, the outdoor skating rink is lit and running thanks to the volunteer efforts of Village Council. You can drop the ballots off after the viewing at the Muenster Hotel.

“We hope everyone comes out for a nice relaxing walk. Everyone is upping their game every year - they want the coveted title of the best lit yard.”
