James Jasken
February 20, 1945 – December 5, 2023

James Bernard Jasken, 78 years, of St. Mary’s Villa and formerly of Lake Lenore, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Jim was born on February 20, 1945 in the Pilger district to John and Pauline (nee Wiest) Jasken. He grew up and attended school in the Pilger area. Jim started his work career at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Humboldt. He went to Moose Jaw where he upgraded his Grade 12 and took a Business course. Jim went on to work at the Department of Highways and then at Sears in Saskatoon. Later he moved to Lake Lenore and worked at Doepker Industries in Annaheim. In 2012, Jim suffered a stroke and was forced to retire, later selling his home and moving to Humboldt. He lived at East Side Village for 6 years and then moved to Quill Plains Lodge in Watson in November 2021 and finally to St. Mary’s Villa in May 2022. Jim enjoyed time outdoors, playing sports, hunting and fishing and also did some wood working. Jim is survived by his three sisters: Armella Knittig (Art Koenders) of Annaheim, Lois (Harry) Wempe of Humboldt and Carol (Brad) Gilmore of Flin Flon, MB; sisters-in-law Sherry Jasken and Hedy Jasken Opfergelt; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Pauline Jasken; siblings: Melvin (Mary) (Kay) Jasken; Janette (Harold) Deederly; Albert Jasken; Sylvester Jasken; and Arnold (Mona) Jasken. A Private Family Service was held for Jim, with interment following in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Lake Lenore. Memorial donations in Jim’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Villa Foundation, New Building Fund.
