One local musician has earned his way to the Saskatoon Youth Orchestra and the Saskatchewan Honour Band.

Tanner Hall, only at the age of 16, made the cut for the Saskatoon Youth Orchestra (SYO) and the Saskatchewan Honour Band after auditioning in early June.

"Just because you're from a small town doesn't mean you can't do big thing's like I'm only 16 and im already in the SYO and it's the best of best orchestral players in the province," said Hall.

Hall has performed in all the music festivals with Humboldt Collegiate Institute. Since grade six, Hall has learned how to play the bassoon, bass clarinet, piano, the clarinet being his strong suit.

"Clarinet was what I started with when I first joined in grade six and I've spent a lot of time practicing it so I've become better and better at it."

The Sask Honour Band is first slated to perform Halloween weekend in Regina and with the SYO starts in early September.
