Margaret Rose Richels
March 29, 1945 – June 9, 2022

The death of Margaret Rose (nee Eichorst) Richels of LeRoy, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK, on Thursday, June 9, 2022. She was 77 years of age. Margaret was born on March 29,1945, to Theodore and Lydia (née Teske) Eichorst, at Rush Lake, Saskatchewan. Growing up on the farm, she learned how to be a hard worker at a young age. Margaret helped with domestic duties in the house and chores on the farm, including milking cows, raising chickens for meat and eggs, and preserving fruits and vegetables for the winter months. She attended Brindle School and LeRoy High School and after graduation, she took a Nursing Assistant course in Saskatoon, SK. Over the years, she worked various jobs including the LeRoy Co-op and Churchbridge Co-op, acting as a bookkeeper for all three departments. On February 4, 1967, she married the love of her life, William Richels, in LeRoy, SK, and together they had four sons, William, Terry, Chad and Dean. They owned and operated a construction/trucking business, along with farming. Margaret loved to cook and bake and she also enjoyed sewing, gardening, music and dancing. Hosting family get-togethers was a highlight for her and these always included a meal. She would always send lots of food with everybody to take home. Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, William Richels; her two sons and their families: Chad (Colleen) Richels, and children Reno, Levi, Riley, Chantel and Brooke of LeRoy, SK, and Dean (Alicia) Richels, and son Wyatt, of LeRoy, SK; her sister, Dorothy Brenner of Saskatoon, SK; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is predeceased by her sons, William and Terry Richels (both in infancy); her parents, Theodore and Lydia Eichorst; brothers, Wilfred Eichorst and Elmer Eichorst; sisters, Esther Klatt and Shirley Turner; mother-in-law, Martha Richels; sister-in-law, Barbara Eichorst; brothers-in-law, Robert Brenner and Werner Klatt; nephew, Kenneth Brenner; and great-nephew, Shawn Fayant. The Funeral Mass was offered at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Monday, June 20, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Francis Akomeah. Scripture readers were Colleen and Anne Walker, and the eulogy was delivered by Alicia Richels. Music ministry was provided by organist Dulcie Kirzinger. Active pallbearers were Chad Richels, Dean Richels, Wyatt Panter, Darren Richels, Robin Richels, and Alvin Richels. Honorary pallbearers were “all those who shared in Margaret’s life”. Interment followed at Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Cemetery, Englefeld, SK.
