Marian Fidelia Vidotto
December 12, 1925 – October 14, 2022

Marian Fidelia (nee Grace) (Steil) Vidotto of Humboldt, SK, passed away peacefully at the Wadena Hospital, Wadena, SK, on Friday, October 14, 2022. She was 96 years of age. Marian was born in Humboldt on December 12, 1925. She was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (nee Mullen) Grace and sister of Allan, Joseph and Kevin. She married Emil Steil on July 30, 1952, and adopted Mark, Philip, Heather, and Grace. The family lived on the farm in the Muenster, SK, district until moving into town in 1966. Another move was made to Humboldt in 1970. Emil passed away in October 1983, after a long illness. Marian married Nello Vidotto in 1988. He passed away in 2005. Marian taught at St. Ives School in her early years and then Muenster School and after 23 years, retired in 1988. She loved to travel by herself prior to meeting Nello, and took many trips visiting relatives and friends in Canada and the United States. Marian had a passion for music, and played the violin with St. Peter’s Orchestra for many years. She also pursued her love of art and writing. Many of her pieces were entered into art shows where she won many ribbons and awards. As well, she wrote many stories and poems, many which were a reflection of her faith and family. Marian will be remembered by her son Mark and his daughter Allyson; son Philip (Cheryl) and their daughters Sherri (Clint), Natasha, and Caitlin; daughter Heather (Gordon) Balbar and their children Joshua (Chayse), and Alana; daughter Grace Hancock (Dave) and her children Jesse (Britney), and Nicole (Jesse); 18 great-grandchildren; and by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Emil Steil; second husband, Nello Vidotto; granddaughter Cyana; son-in-law, Tony Hancock; parents, Thomas and Mary (nee Mullen) Grace; and by her two brothers and their wives: Allan (Melanie) Grace, Joseph (Mary) Grace, and Kevin (Joyce) Grace. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. John Ezeoruonye. Others taking part were: Olivia Rivers, cross bearer; Bea Schidlowsky and Sheri Rivers, scripture readers; Heather Balbar and Grace Hancock, intentions. Music ministry was provided by members of the St. Augustine Parish Funeral Choir. An honor guard was formed by members of the C.W.L. Active pallbearers were “all those who shared in Marian’s life”. Active pallbearers were Rene Grace, Mark Steil, Allyson Steil, Alton Fouse, Austin Rivers, and Dezi Grace. Interment followed at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery.
