The Town of Watson celebrated the opening of a $2.1 million lift station on Friday.
“It is tremendous for us to have this facility,” mayor Norma Weber said.
The town had limped along with the old “cubby hole” of a lift station for several years.
“We were having a lot of trouble with it and we really were in need of a replacement.”
The province spent $547,000 on the project, with the federal government kicking in another $1.09 million.
Government Relations Minister Warren Kaeding said it’s “extremely challenging” to decide which community infrastructure projects get funding each year - and not everyone gets what they’re looking for.
“Every community has some kind of infrastructure need. So we’ve got a bit of a scorecard that we use to try and prioritize all the applications that come in.”
