We are into a very important two days for emergency care in the province.

The Saskatchewan Critical Care on the Air Radiothon for STARS runs from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday across many radio stations in Saskatchewan, including Golden West's.

You can tune in to hear stories from people impacted by the air-rescue service, perspectives from staff, and messages from supporters.

STARS flew over 1,000 missions from their Saskatoon and Regina bases during the 2021-22 fiscal year. You can find the breakdown of locations here:

"People may not realize that STARS is more than a helicopter," said Terri Strunk, STARS’ chief fundraising and brand officer. "Through our Emergency Link Centre, we field roughly 99 emergency calls for service every day across Saskatchewan and Western Canada. We contribute to critical care virtually, every day, thousands of times in a year."

The provincial government provides approximately 50 per cent of the funds needed to operate STARS in Saskatchewan, and the STARS Foundation must raise the remaining $10 million annually through fundraisers like Critical Care on the Air.

"We need your help to continue fighting for the lives of patients when they need us most, in communities across the province," said Strunk. "Please join us on the air to learn more about the work we do and how your support matters."
