Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) Humboldt is preparing for Diva For A Day, an event created for ladies around the community to raise funds for the organization.

Registration for the event opened on April 4 and will remain open until June 1 or until all spots are reserved. The event takes place on June 11, at the Humboldt golf course.

“It’s a day of laughter and sport, and just supporting the kids' needs in our community,” states executive director Jodie Hergott.

The day will be filled with activities and surprises, explained Hergott.

“The ladies will be treated to a brunch, there is a caddie auction, and then they will go out on the course with a cart and golf and come back for some prizes and supper to wrap up the day.

With the caddie auction, Hergott explained the organization is looking for volunteers.

“If there are any gentlemen in the community that would like to volunteer as a caddie this year, we are certainly looking for caddies to round out our day.”

Ladies can dress up for the event, as there is a theme. This year's theme is ‘Hillbilly Soiree’, and Hergott anticipates some hilarious costumes as the outcome.

Those wanting to participate should act quickly, as the organization allows only 36 teams to participate, double what they allowed for in previous years.

“We typically sellout at 18 (teams), but this year we were able to double the capacity, with the golf course being able to accommodate a bigger tournament.”

With double the number of teams, Hergott hopes to surpass 100 lady golfers for the event.

Hergott explains how important Diva For A Day is for the organization.

“Diva For A Day is one of our signature events, and it is very important to our operating budget. It carries a lot of clout, and we are going to build it bigger and better each and every year that we can, and really make it profitable for Big Brothers Big Sisters.”

Anyone wanting to participate in the event can email divahumboldt@bigbrothersbigsisters.ca or call their office at 306-682-2829.
