Saskatchewan residents aged 18 and older will receive a surprise in their mailboxes come fall.

Premier Scott Moe took to Twitter to announce that a $500 "affordability cheque" will be in every Saskatchewan resident's mailbox aged 18 and older sometime in the fall.

“Higher resource prices are driving our economy, and they are creating thousands of new jobs. This has greatly improved our budget position from a deficit to a surplus, and that’s good news. It also means the cost of almost everything that you buy has gone up,” stated Scott Moe. “You own the resources, and you should benefit when those prices are high.”

Finance Minister, Donna Harpauer, will provide more clarity as she outlines the province's first-quarter financial report on Tuesday.
