With a little help from the Alberta Clipper, and its accompanying snowfall moving through the province, the sleds will be out for the St. Gregor Poker Rally on this Saturday. It’s been a slow start to the sledding season, but the annual gathering goes snow or no snow on January 13.

Registration for the rally is at 11 am at the Community Hall in St. Gregor. Many of the riders head north to Lake Lenore to partake in the fish smoker and head back to the hall in St. Gregor for supper and a gathering at 5 pm.

“We have our 50/50 raffle with food and drinks available all day,” says Tyler Hogemann, one of the organizers. “We have been on a bun for supper and door prizes when the riders get back.”

If the conditions aren’t ideal for sledding, the would-be riders can head out for a drive during the event and rejoin for socializing, the supper and the draws. Proceeds go to the Community Hall for maintenance and upkeep.

The dusting of snow predicted could set the St. Gregor Poker Rally up for the inaugural sled event of the season.
