The Humboldt and District Special Olympics floor hockey team is back in a big way as they made the trek to Regina for their first tournament in over two years.

They went to work quickly on Saturday morning, facing off against Swift Current and walking away with a 6-5 opening win.

That brought them up against Regina for a 12 o’clock noon showdown. Once again, the Humboldt squad proved its mettle, downing Regina 9-5. Once again, they faced Swift Current and again came out victorious, this time with a decisive 11-5 statement.

That put the Humboldt team into the gold medal game in the evening. They faced Regina one more time, and after a 10-4 Regina win, the squad received a silver medal for their efforts. All reports are that the games were well played and that the Humboldt and District Special Olympics Broncos are still a force to be reckoned with.
