Wadena will see team Yanagisawa from Japan compete in the Scott Comfort RE/MAX Blue Chip Realty Tour Spiel in Wadena on December 15 - 17. The team will face some of Saskatchewan’s top teams including Team Knapp, 2023 Team Sask Brier representatives, and many more competitors.

Before the event, the Japanese squad will be coming to Wadena all week to practice and get a small-town Saskatchewan experience. The Wadena community will be giving the team a taste of the province with a tour of the Richardson Pioneer terminal, a Quill Creek Farms Buffalo Farm tour along many other experiences.

The team will be staying at the same Hunting Cabin that Team Dunstone stayed at during their preparation for the 2021 Tim Hortons Brier in the bubble.

“The event will be a throwback to the small town spiels of old with a volunteer ran kitchen featuring homestyle soups, meals, baking, and of course the infamous Wadena Bakery Boston creams,” stated the Wadena RE/MAX Curling Club in a release.

One game a draw will be live-streamed on the club's Youtube and Facebook pages.

The event starts at the Wadena RE/MAX Curling Club on Dec 15 at 11:00 with games all through the weekend and final starting at 4:30 on Sunday, Dec. 17.  Admission is free with patrons able to give what they can to a silver plate collection with all proceeds going to Wadena Junior Curling.
