It was a celebration 100 years in the making.

Bertha Ulrich celebrated her 100th birthday on Tuesday, October 13th with her family by her side and a home-town Humboldt parade filled with first responders and other local groups wishing her a triple-digit happy birthday as they drove by the St. Mary's Villa.

"Age is mind over matter, and if you don't mind, it doesn't matter," said Ulrich.

Genes run strong in the Ulrich family tree, as both of Bertha's parents lived to be over 95 years old.

"She's got a superb memory and an awesome sense of humour," said one of Ulrich's grandchildren, Shaunna Ilg. "We always kept her on her toes. We like to think that's a reason why she has lived to 100."

Along with her seven children, Ulrich cherishes the honour of being blessed with 61 grand, great, and great-great-grandchildren.

"They constantly bring a smile to her face and always give her something she looks forward to seeing," added Ilg.

BOLT FM wishes Bertha Ulrich a century of celebrations and many more to come.
