Yet another local football prodigy is heading south to play in the CJFL.

On June 1st, graduating Wynyard Golden Bears receiver, Tristan Berquist signed with the Regina Thunder of the Canadian Junior Football League. The two time provincial silver medalist, has played football for six full years and is looking forward to many more with the Thunder.

"I'm really excited and can't wait for it, but there is also a bit of relief with COVID-19 possibly impacting the chances of playing football or not," said Berquist.

Berquist has been conducting private and group workouts with the Regina Thunder coaching staff to stay in shape this off season. The Golden Bears reciever does not think he will get a lot of playing time, but hopes to help out where ever he is needed.

"I expect to give rest to the other guys when they need it while playing what ever position I'm needed in."

While playing with the Thunder, Berquist will be taking carpentry at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Moose Jaw. Joining the Wynyard football star in Regina is Wakaw Warrior, Tyler Skoworodko and Winston Wildcat, Jayme Galan.
