Broncos scoring depth shines in 6-0 win over North Stars
After losing a close on Friday night, it was a completely different story on Saturday night as the Humboldt Broncos dominated the Battlefords North Stars with a 6-0 win. It was a quick start for the green and gold, on the power play, Ryder Knutson’s point shot found the back of the net to make it 1-0. Gabriel Kaminski extended the Broncos lead, following a shift where he created multiple turnovers in the North Stars end, as the rookie was properly rewarded with his first goal as a Bronco. Humboldt scored their second goal with the extra man advantage, when Brayden Skogstad made a nice pass to Avery Lowe on the doorstep of the net. Lowe fired home his fourth goal of the season. Jacob Strizzi added his league leading 13th goal of the season, finishing off a 2 on 1 rush with Jeter Korte. The Broncos led 4-0 through the opening 12:16, chasing North Stars netminder Steele Bass. Charlie Tritt made his biggest save of the game, denying a odd man rush by Battlefords at the buzzer as the green and gold maintained their four-goal advantage. There was no scoring in the second period, as the Broncos finished the goal parade with a pair of power play markers in the final frame. Zach Bansley was able to breathe a sigh of relief following his first goal of the season. Lowe finished off the scoring with his second goal of the night. Over the last three games, Lowe has scored four goals. Korte, Skogstad and Tyrone Sobry each had two assists. Tritt made 35 saves as he collected his third shutout for the year.
