Ever since August 20th, the Humboldt Mohawks have been hard at work to get ready for the 2018 season.

Last year the Mohawks finished third in their conference with a record of 3 and 3. The team only lost 3 senior players after last season and will be looking to make waves in this upcoming season with more experienced players. Head coach, Cory Popoff, stated that practice has been going well over the past couple of weeks.

"Attendance is near 100 percent and the boys are really really putting a lot of effort into being better at the game."

This past Wednesday the Mohawks took part in a controlled scrimmage to get warmed up for the upcoming season. The scrimmage took place at SMF field in Saskatoon against the Rosetown Royals with points not being tallied.

"We got to change in the Saskatoon hilltops change room and just get to that experience as a football team is pretty cool to play under the lights, it was a magical evening," Popoff said.

Week 1 gets started on Friday next week in Tisdale, a team that's looking to come back after a 0 and 6 season. Week 2 for the Mohawks is a bye week where the grade 9 and 10 students get playing time in the Junior Jamboree. While in week 3 on September 21st the Mohawks host their first home game against Melfort.
