The Marysburg Royals made it to the semi-final of the Senior Men's AA Tier 1 Provincials on the weekend but they came up short falling 5-3 to the Saskatoon Outlaws Sunday.

Going into the seven team event the club was relying on their fresh faced pitchers but veteran short stop Curtis Strueby had nothing but praise for their young arms.

"I can't say enough about our young guys how they came into pitch this weekend," he praised following the tough loss Sunday afternoon.

Eric Bollefer was excellent going five for the win in game one, Carter Frerichs collected the victory in game two, youngster Nick Anderson put together 5 1/3 innings of nastiness Sunday but he was stroked for a pair of runs in the fifth inning of the semifinal that the Royals didn't recover from.

Strueby admitted after the game with future Royal, Hudson Strueby nipping at his heels that they had plenty of chances but they came up short.

"Our offense let us down in this game, we started out hot and they made a pitching change and the guy they went to has been around, he knows what he's doing. He held us at bay."

The Royals left nine runners aboard in the contest.

The club has a couple league games left before the Saskatoon Senior Baseball League playoffs begin.

The Regina Trappers won the tournament.
