Being a billet for the Humboldt Broncos is a contribution that some people make in the community to their local hockey team.

And with players coming to Humboldt from out of town, it makes the Humboldt Broncos Billet Program much more important for the players and the team as well. So just recently, to help the billet families in the community, the program has acquired a $200,000 donation to cover expenses for the billets.

The money was donated by Humboldt Sobey's and Sobeys corporate said, Dave Doepker, with Humboldt Sobeys.

"Basically what's going to happen is that the families will be given gift cards on a monthly bases depending on how many players they have and they'll just use it to subsidize the cost of feeding the players."

The cards will be Sobey's gift cards that can be used at the Sobeys right here in Humboldt. Billets are important so players don't have to worry about expenses with accommodations, food, and other utilities.

The money is under a 2-year plan for the billet program as the SJHL season kicked off on the 12 of September between the Broncos and the Hawks.
