Only a select few Saskatchewan Party Members of the Legislative Assembly can say they stood beside Premier Brad Wall in Regina for 18 years.

Humboldt-Watrous MLA Donna Harpauer is one of those six.

In 1999, Harpauer received the most votes in the then Watrous riding. Wall was elected for the first time in Swift Current.

Reacting to Thursday's retirement announcement from Wall, Harpauer says that she has always been a big supporter of the Premier.

"I couldn't ask for any better gentleman to work with and for throughout these years of government," she explained. "I've always admired him and it has been an honour and a pleasure to work with him."

Wall took the reigns as leader of the Sask Party in 2004 and eventually became Premier in 2007 when the Sask Party defeated the New Democrats.

During that time, Harpauer says she has learned plenty about Wall.

"He's an extremely strong leader. There is no one I know that has the capacity to unite the caucus and to listen to the people," she said. "A lot of great things have happened in the province since he has been our leader."

Harpauer boasted about the list of accomplishments the Wall government has been able to do in ten years.

"We've had population growth like we've never seen. There has been job creation. We've been able to do things like reduce surgical wait times and build schools," she noted. "I credit it a lot to his leadership and his vision for the province. It's a vision that I have admired and supported."

Other Sask Party MLA's who have joined Wall for all 18 years include Lyle Stewart, Glen Hart, Randy Weekes, Dan D'Autremont, and Greg Brkich, who currently serves Arm River, formerly known as Arm River-Watrous.

One member of the official opposition New Democrats - Buckley Belanger - has also served during Wall's 18 years.
