As warmer weather rolls in, residents of Humboldt and area will finally have something to do outside of their homes.

The Humboldt Golf Club (HGC) announced this past weekend that the course will be opening on April 28 at Noon. Golfing was one of the few activities still available to the public amid the pandemic last summer, and HGC is happy to open its doors for yet another season.

"Everybody's just glad to have something to do. Last year that was certainly the case with golf seeing a big uptick (in popularity). We are just fortunate that we can open and that we're busy in the process as well," said Cory Schweitzer, General Manager of HGC.

The COVID-19 guidelines are similar to last year with golfers strongly advised to book a tee time a week in advance. Tee times will be 10 minutes apart with a maximum of four people per group. Masks are mandatory in the clubhouse, whereas on the course it's up to participants if they wish to wear a mask or not.

HGC is allowed to hold tournaments and golfing events with the COVID-19 guidelines currently in place. However, as the vaccine rollout continues to increase, guidelines could change during the golfing season.

"Our bigger events are already in motion like the Humboldt Broncos Memorial Golf Tournament in August, Big Brothers Big Sisters also already announced their holding Diva for a Day, and we'll be running regular club events as well," stated Schweitzer.

Over the last several weeks the course has been prepared by the HGC staff. As the season starts, golfers should be made aware of some minor renovations being done to the downstairs pro shop.

"When you come to the course, use the south entrance as we'll be running the operation out of the upstairs for the next three to four weeks."
