The Lanigan food bank is getting $3,000 from RBC to purchase groceries as well as two new refrigerators for their facility.

Not only did they provide the funding through their "Day of Service" grant program they also provided labour packing food hampers.

Food Bank Co-Chair Jeanette Warrian says they are extremely thankful for their assistance.

"It's been awesome, they have come for three different months and did the Monday evening packing. They have packed about half our hampers with all the non-perishables so it's been a big help."

RBC Manager Jodi Smith says they are very happy to give back.

"This is such a great opportunity that we have to not just give money, it's not just about giving money but getting involved in your community and hands on. Many hands make light work."

The "Day of Service" grant program is something done across the nation, the local RBC branches have also cleaned up parks and the downtown area, they sponsored the Music Festival as well as helped raise funds for the numerous playground committees in Humboldt.

Warrian says they have a consistent list of about 35 families to feed so the help is really appreciated.

"It's been pretty consistent, it never gets less. We have different people using it but it's very much needed."

The Lanigan bank helps as far west as Viscount, east as far as Jansen and LeRoy, and down into Nokomis and Govan. The food bank is located in the same building as the Lanigan Advisor, and donations can be dropped off at any time.
