A Muenster baseball prospect continues to bring the heat and scoop up the accolades as he continues his collegiate career.

Logan Hofmann just wrapped up his first year at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. The season was brought short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that didn't stop the Junior pitcher from being named a 2nd-Team All-American.

Hofmann was limited to four starts due to the shortened campaign. However, the four starts he did make were among the best in the country. Hofmann finished the season with a 4-0 record to go along with a perfect 0.00 ERA (Earned Runs Average), and 38 strikeouts. His All-American honours marks only the third time it's been accomplished by a pitcher in the program's history, and just the second time a Canadian Northwestern State player has achieved it.

"I felt like I could really attack guys," said Hofmann. "I had a really good command of all of my pitches, and of course, I had a good defense behind me that I could trust. Overall, I just felt good. Every time I got out there I just wanted to attack guys and really go at them, and good things will happen."

The Northwestern State Demon's season was 16 games in before it got shutdown. Prior to this season, Logan's first as a Demon, Hofmann's path went through two years at Colby Community College in Colby, Kansas, followed by a summer season in the Cape Cod Leauge in Massachusetts.

"I think a lot of my success this year had to do with the success I had at the Cape Cod League, just because it's the best college summer league in the country. I felt like that boosted my confidence going to Northwestern State just knowing I could compete with the best college players in the country."

Following two successful years at Colby Community College, Hofmann was drafted in the 35th round in the MLB Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. Logan elected not to sign the rookie deal. He instead returned for another season of college ball, this time with Northwestern State, in an attempt to raise his draft stock for the following year.

The decision appeared to be a home run with the way that Hofmann's 2020 campaign took off. However, due to the pandemic, the 2020 MLB Draft has also been trimmed down, going from 40 rounds down to just five. Nonetheless, Hoffman is more than content with returning to Northwestern State for another year if his name doesn't get called in the upcoming five-round draft.

"It's gonna be tough, but if I don't get drafted, ll go back to Northwestern State and hopefully have another good season next year."

Whether or not Hofmann's name gets called, it's fair to say, the Muenster baseball factory has certainly produced another high-level prospect with All American, Logan Hofmann.
