Thursday night at the Humboldt Art Gallery Brent Loehr will read from his book, The Global Baseball Classroom, Reflections Beyond Home.

The book has been available now since June of last year.

He says the name may mislead you so if you are expecting a night of chatter about America's pastime you will get much more.

"The book is about 13 different stories, they aren't about me and in some ways some of them aren't even about baseball which sounds contradictory because it's called The Global Baseball Classroom but it's basically the narrative thread that threads all the stories together, it's more about people."

Loehr gathered through traveling and the people he met plus others he came across while playing the sport. Loehr, who is a Career Councillor within the Horizon School Division says it's an amazing feeling to be able to write about his passions in life.

"It's a win, win when you can combine your passions. Whether it's learning or travel or baseball, all together so fan writing, yeah that's definitely what I did."

This is the fourth reading in the current series put on by the Reid-Thompson Library. He talks about what attendees can expect to see.

"I will do an overview of the book, I will do an actual reading, I will probably share some anecdotes from how it was put together. I might even show some video clips because I had some people asking about how could that have happened? It's non-fiction, it all happened so there is some things I have on video and of course we will have a question and answer session to wrap up."

The event is free, it begins at 7:30. Loehr will have books there to sell after the reading.
