It won't be long now before a Syrian refugee family plants roots in the City of Humboldt.

The Humboldt and Area Refugee Coalition says their family of four will be here early next month as Coalition member Chelsea Nadiger tells us.

"The family will be coming on June 2nd which is great for us, we've been very busy for the past couple weeks since we've learned that. They will be getting here, we have airport pick up and everything arranged so they will be joining us June 2nd."

Nadiger says they are ready to welcome the family to the city thanks to some great support.

"The community has actually been very, very generous so thank you everyone. We have enough bedding and beds and kitchen supplies up to date, now we're just kind of looking for more monetary donations and donations of cleaning supplies and hygiene products, things like that."

You can contact Nadiger at the Humboldt Gathering Place if you can or want to assist.

She says she can't wait to see the family get off that plane in Saskatoon.

"I've actually done this before in another line of work in Regina and to be at the airport was absolutely amazing, it's going to be great. I hope they are just as excited as we are, I know they are going to be very jet lagged and probably a lot of culture shock but I hope they are just as excited as we are."

On June 20th, World Refugee Day will occur, the Coalition is currently planning an event for Civic Park. More details will be released closer to the date.
