Registrations are open for Skate Humboldt's CanSkate program

CanSkate is a learn-to-skate program designed for beginner skaters of all ages. The first skate takes place on Friday, October 18th and runs on Mondays and Fridays up until thier annual ice show on March 15th.

"Skate Humboldt wants to get the word out that our CanSkate program still has spots available for our upcoming skating season. So if you were thinking about registering and thought you might be late, or that perhaps the program was full, it's actually not too late," said President of Skate Humbodlt, Cameron Cline.

The CanSkate program starts on Friday, October 16th. However, individuals can still sign up until December as long as spots remain open.

"The program is designed to develop basic skating skills faster, and it uses a Skate Canada tested and proven curriculum of skating circuits."

The CanSkate program is geared for beginners who would like to learn how to skate, but will also teach them fundamentals, which in turn, would be used whether moving into hockey, ringette, figure skating, or speed skating.

"Skaters will compete in the circuits in three separate areas of balance, control, and agility skills. Those are really the core basics of skating fundamentals and provides a foundation for all skating sports. Lessons are provided in a group format and skaters will skate through the series of circuits at their own rate."

If registering, you can choose to register for both days or choose either Monday or Friday.

Registration costs are $470 if signing up for both days. That price includes the Skate Humboldt, Skate Canada Saskatchewan, and Skate Canada fees, as well as the costume charge for the annual ice show at the end of the year. If individuals are just interested in one day a week, the cost is $390.00
