It is with sadness that the family of Alvin Michel announces his passing on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Humboldt District Hospital. He was 84 years of age. Alvin was born June 20, 1937, to Henry and Margaret (née Reupsch) Michel and grew up on the family farm south of St Gregor, Saskatchewan. He was the youngest of three children and attended Sjorlie School from 1943-1951. After he completed school, he spent three winters working in British Columbia in construction. He started farming in 1959 and drove taxi in Saskatoon during the winter. On October 6, 1962, he married Paula Trimmel. For many years he was a member of the Leroy Elks and the St Gregor Community Club. Over the years he enjoyed many activities including hunting, fishing, curling, and skiing to name a few. Alvin and Paula parted ways in 1995, and he also quit farming at that time and started spending winters in Arizona. He married Kathleen Brown March 26, 1998, in Yuma, AZ. Alvin and Kathleen enjoyed traveling to many places including Europe, Cambodia, the Panama Canal, and Alaska. They spent summers in Humboldt and winters in Yuma. He also enjoyed his grandchildren and was overjoyed at the arrival of his first great-grandchild. Alvin will be lovingly remembered by his wife Kathleen, two surviving children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild: his daughters Sandra Merkosky of Saskatoon, SK, and family Brian (Stephanie), Ashley (Ward) Hallet; Jackie Bernauer of Humboldt, SK, and family Scott, Ryan, and Taylor; and Kurt’s children Vanessa (Travis) Duskocy and Beau, and Noah, Claire, and Ellen.
