Canada Day saw the first All Star Games with the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League played at James Korte Field in Muenster. In both the rookies and the senior game, teams were comprised of 2 to 3 players from each of the teams in their respective zones.

The afternoon opener saw the 18U AAA Rookie all-stars take the field with East Central Red Sox Cade Britz and Pryor Dyck on with the Sask West team. The west squad cruised to an 8-1 over their eastern counterparts.

Aiden Kilshaw led the way with four runs driven in on a pair of hits. The west camp finished strong with 5 runs in the last two innings. Colby Linzmayer launched a solo shot home run in the top of the seventh for the East squad run.

In the senior game, a tight pitchers’ duel and defensive battle led to a 2-2 tie.

Cam Marshak, Dallen Rude and Marek Yeager represented East Central Red Sox on the West Team. Marshak opened the scoring for the west with a double in the bottom of the 1st. In the top of the 2nd, the East’s Nolan Dobson equalized with a sacrifice fly driving in one run.

Rhett Hodgins put the West back on top with a single in the top of 4, and Aiden Marien crushed one to right field for a solo home run to bring scoring to its conclusion.

A great crowd came out, a cross-section of the province with fans and supporters from all corners. Despite recent rainfall, the field was in great shape, and the inaugural All-Star matchups were an unqualified success.
