The East Central U15 Wolverines capped off a successful by claiming the city championship on the weekend in Saskatoon.  

Heading into the championship playoffs, the Wolverines were seeded third after a record of 8-4-2 during the regular season.  

Everything came together for the squad in the playoffs with a perfect weekend, picking up four straight wins on route to the city title.  

To open the tournament, on Friday, the Wolverines defeated the Twin City Angels Obrigewitch 13-3.   

Saturday’s result saw the Wolverines pick up a pair of victories, the Saskatoon Lasers 14-2 and the Saskatoon Phantoms 3-0.   

In the finals, against the Saskatoon Raiders, East Central dominated, securing a 16-1 win. The bats came alive for the Wolverines, racking up 11 hits. On the mound, Payton Muggli had a solid weekend, earning three wins for the weekend and collecting ten strikeouts. Kaidyn Edison also picked up a win during the playoffs.  

The attention will now shift to U15 A Provincials, taking place in Prince Albert from July 19-21. The top three teams will advance to the Canadian Championships in Quebec in August, while the 4th and 5th placed teams in Battlefords, also in August.  

On Saturday, July 13, the Wolverines will meet the Prince Albert Aces in a doubleheader in Muenster.
