The past six months have been all leading up to this moment for one 18-year-old young man and his family.

Layne Matechuk has officially been released from a hospital in Saskatoon.

The former Bronco was one of those affected in the April 6th crash.

He had been in intense rehabilitative care and is now walking under his own power.

His family says that even though he is not fully aware of what happened yet, he still remains positive.

He is focused on maintaining and improving his vocal and movement skills, and his family is very thankful to have him home.

The Matechuk Family will be gathering to celebrate his release over this Thanksgiving long weekend.
