Classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, antique tractors and even impressive monster trucks will make their way to Watrous for the annual Fun Run this Saturday, July 23. It’s one of the premier summer events in the Watrous area, and Sarah McKen, community development officer for the Watrous Manitou Marketing Group, is looking for this year’s event to be bigger than ever.

“There are a few extras, just to ramp it up for everybody. Main Street in Watrous will be full of everybody’s pride and joy. They’ve done a lot of work to get things organized and there are a lot of beautiful vehicles coming in.”

Vehicles will begin arriving for registration around 8:00 am on Saturday, and the exhibition will be underway at 9:00 am. An added attraction this year will be Monster Truck Rides featured courtesy of Bout Time of North Battleford, happening at the Arena parking lot. Agility dogs will be testing their skills at the Memorial Park. As well, a full slate of entertainment will be taking to the stage all day long to add a touch of musical and performance excitement to the day.

No major event would be complete without a great breakfast to start the day, and that’s happening until 10:00 am at the Seniors’ Centre. Music and the all-day beer tent will follow.

The day wraps up with the traditional cruise to Manitou Beach with all the vehicles stretched out along the highway.

In years past, up to 250 vehicles have registered for the event. Owners who wish to pre-register their vehicles online can do so before noon on Friday by heading to the Watrous Fun Run website.

McKen invites everyone to put on the suntan lotion and come on out for a day of fun at the 31st annual Watrous Fun Run Show and Shine this Saturday.
