Jack Robert Jestin
September 9, 1954 – November 29, 2023

The death of Jack Robert Jestin of Naicam, SK, occurred at his residence on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. He was 69 years of age. Jack, the second son of Bob and Marg (nee Fouhse) was born on September 9, 1954, in Spalding, SK. He attained his elementary education in Naicam, and then attended MCI in Melfort, graduating in 1973. After graduation, Jack spent a year in the Canadian Armed Forces but decided he didn’t like being so far away from home and family. He worked on the family farm for a time, and then went to Swan River, MB, to drive truck for his uncle, Jerry Fouhse. Jack returned to Saskatchewan and worked as a meter reader for Sask Power in Regina. Finally, being the home body that he was, he returned to Naicam where he began working for his uncle, Art Fouhse in the auto body trade. In 1976, Jack married Deb Mamer, daughter of Norbert and Elaine Mamer of Lake Lenore, SK. They had two daughters, Tasha and Jodi. The Jestin family lived in Naicam where Jack completed his Journeyman Auto Body certification. In 1979, the family moved to Nipawin, SK, where Jack worked for Verklan Ford. In August 1982, the Jestins made the big move to the city of Saskatoon where Jack worked for an auto body shop and at Captain Hook Towing. In 1987, Jack and Deb and the girls moved to Davidson where Jack ran the auto body shop for Ransom Chev Olds. He was known throughout the area for his attention to detail and his thoroughness in his trade. Jack was an active member of the Davidson Volunteer Fire Department and the local Kinsmen club. When he was injured at work and unable to continue in the auto body trade full-time, he was given the opportunity to retrain. Jack chose to attend the University of Saskatchewan and completed a three-year program in Vocational Agriculture in 1997, the same year their youngest daughter Jodi graduated from high school. He then returned to Naicam where he worked in the agriculture field ever since. Summers were spent in Naicam, Lake Lenore, and at the Mamer family cabin at Barrier Ford. In 2001, Jack and Deb purchased a second home in Naicam. Spare time through the years was spent renovating both homes, going to auctions, and spending time with family. Jack spent many winters grooming the snowmobile trails for the Naicam Snowblasters. He took great pride in the fact that these were some of the best trails in the area. Jack was also a talented woodworker and crafter; he made everything from doll furniture to hope chests to roasting sticks for gifts and craft sales. Jack will be lovingly remembered and so greatly missed by his wife of 47 years, Deb (nee Mamer) Jestin of Naicam, SK; their two children: Tasha (James) Cooper of Saskatoon, SK, and Jodi Jestin of Niverville, MB; two granddaughters: Madison and Jane, also of Niverville, MB; mother, Marg Jestin of Melfort, SK; two brothers: Glen (JoAnn) Jestin of Tisdale, SK, and Harley Jestin of Melfort, SK; four sisters: Carol (Don) Moskal of Melfort, and Gail Prost, all of Melfort, SK, Audrey (Paul) Wood of Calgary, AB, and Michele (Lyle) Coutu of Grimshaw, AB; sister-in-law, Marlene (David) Pfeiffer of Humboldt, SK; brothers-in-law: Brian (Jean) Mamer of Saskatoon, SK, Dean (Cynthia) Mamer of Prince Albert, SK, and Keith (Sharla) Mamer of Melfort, SK; and by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
